100 years Ferry Porsche: the last pioneer

356 and 911 - three simple numbers which make the pulse of every automobile enthusiast accelerate. Behind the factual type designation hide sports cars which have lastingly influenced the automobile industry thanks to their breathtaking design and trailblazing engineering. The creative mind behind these sculptures made of glass, rubber, and steel is 'Ferry' Ferdinand Anton Ernst Porsche. On 19th September Zell's Congress Centre is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its eponym and the last pioneer of the automobile industry.

A love for horse power: Ferry Porsche was born with a passion for cars. After all, it was his father who designed the Volkswagen par excellence, the VW Beetle. Thus it does not come as a surprise that Ferry's first success model, the 356, was inspired by the popular humpback global bestseller. 'In the beginning I took a look around but was not able to find the car of my dreams. So I decided to built my own', were the words of the honorary citizen of Zell am See. Generations of lovers of sports cars have been enthralled with every new version based on the prototype of his dream come true. In view of these facts it is only natural that the name of Ferry Porsche is mentioned in one breath with automobile designers of first magnitude like Gottlieb Daimler, Henry Ford, and Enzo Ferrari.
